THE PROBLEM ISN’T YOUR WILLPOWER

Sound familiar?

You asked for a website blocker. Somehow, you got a whole new set of distractions.

The three-site ceiling★
“absolutely useless, you can only block 3 websites for free and everything else is locked behind a paywall.”

BlockSite review ↗19 Oct 2026

The extra noise★
“constant popups for luna adblock”

StayFocusd review ↗13 Jun 2026

The block that doesn’t block★
“Honestly, this was a great extension, till the blocked sites didn't work half the time.”

StayFocusd review ↗20 Oct 2026

The privacy worry★
“SPYWARE. Collects all your browser history and AI chats.”

StayFocusd review ↗18 Jun 2026

These are competitor reviews, not Blockwell testimonials. They reflect reviewers’ experiences and allegations, not independent findings. In our analysis of 339 1–3★ reviews of BlockSite and StayFocusd posted since Jan 2025: 128 mentioned paywalls, 68 ads/pop-ups, 66 blocks not working and 47 privacy. Categories overlap.

A SMALL TOOL. A SIMPLE IDEA.

Why we built
Blockwell.

We read 339 unhappy reviews of two of the biggest blockers. The same five complaints kept coming back: paywalls, pop-ups, unreliable blocks, privacy worries and broken updates.

A site blocker is a small thing. It shouldn’t need your browsing history, or a subscription just to block a fourth site. So we built the boring, reliable one. The kind that does its job, then gets out of your way.

OUR PROMISE. NO ASTERISK.

Free features never move
behind a paywall.

What’s free at 1.0 stays free in every update.
Pro only ever adds new things.

FAIR QUESTIONS

“But…”

Yes, we’d ask too.

Is Blockwell really free?

Yes. Unlimited sites, path blocking, one schedule, a focus timer, your own block-page note, block testing, export/import backup and the incognito guide are free forever. Pro only adds new features.

Will it actually block websites?

Blockwell uses Chrome’s built-in blocking engine. Use “Test my blocks” to check your rules. Self-healing rules help keep blocking working. Without optional site access, Chrome shows its own blocked page.

What do you collect?

No browsing data, analytics or tracking. Your list stays in your browser. The only extension network request is a Pro licence check to api.revenuecat.com with a random install ID. Checkout providers process payments; we receive purchase status and an email for receipts and support.

What about incognito?

Chrome turns extensions off in incognito by default. Blockwell detects that and shows the two-click fix: open its Chrome extension details and turn on “Allow in Incognito”.

Will an update wipe my list?

Blockwell uses versioned settings to preserve your list across updates. You can also export a backup and import it later.

Why does it ask for site access sometimes?

Site access is optional and per-site. It enables the branded block page and Shorts or Reels blocking inside YouTube’s or Instagram’s app-style navigation. Normal blocking still works without it.
